The Fruit Loop mystery

The mysterious fruit loops…Recently, as I was walking outside I came across little fruit loops on the ground, but could not figure out why or how these mysterious little crunchy morsels ended up in a nearly straight line on the ground.  Strange, I thought to myself. How odd this was, but intriguing. It seemed as if a child was dropping them like treats so a puppy or dog would follow them home; it reminded me of a trail of bread crumbs about which one could read in the fable Hansel and Gretel. This strange occurrence piqued my curiosity.

I would watch the birds come and swoop down, land, and grab one with their beaks, then fly away. One yellow, one green. I would watch the squirrels scurrying about, stopping, sitting, and with their two tiny hand-like paws, eat and then run away. One blue, one red. I would watch people walk past and step on these little colorful crunchy Fruit Loops, stopping to stare at their feet upon hearing the crunching sound – as if they were stepping on landmines or something. Red, yellow, blue, green, purple.

So, there I sit and there I watch bird after bird swoop in and fly away.  Squirrel after squirrel scurrying about and crunch after crunch from the soles of the feet exploding these little landmines, but the mystery still remains of the origin of these Fruit Loops. Had a child dropped them?  Was there a hole in someone’s snack bag? Did the wind just drop these little circles in a line? The Fruit Loop mystery was entertainment, but the how and why still remained. Then something caught my eye. What did I see? What was I looking at? What is that? I started laughing and finally solved the Fruit Loop mystery….
